All are welcome

Recent Supreme Court Ruling in the United Kingdom

On 16th April 2025 the UK Supreme Court issued a controversial judgement on who can be classed as a women.

Although their Justices decided that this must be based upon the birth sex of the person, the press, politicians and some elements of society have used this decision to increase the wave of hate and discrimination against the Trans community.

Although The Listening Therapist remains politically neutral - I wanted to reassure any person who identifies as Trans or female that they will be treated with the utmost care - the same as all other clients.  No one will be knowingly discriminated against.

Book Reviews

These 3 Book Reviews highlight some of my book review topics. My Book Reviews cover many different fictional and non-fiction including real world stories on psychology, law, psychiatry and the criminal justice system in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Why so controversial? Recognizing and Addressing Domestic Violence Against Men

Some state it does not happen whilst others demand complete focus on women only. It is a topic that generates so much division, hate and anger – something that those who propagate these myths who would cry abuse if it were said about them!

Psychopathy: Understanding the Mind of the Master Manipulator!

"Aside from these groups and aside from all the types of patients recognised as psychotic, there remains for our consideration a large body of people who are incapable of leading normal lives and whose behaviour causes greatest distress in every community (Cleckley, 1941, p. 27)."

The Brain That Changes Itself

Some call it a machine and liken it to a super computer others view it as an ever changing and adaptable living structure. The human brain is a marvellous organ that allows us all to be US! This book will show us just how adaptable the brain can be through the lens of science.

Our Mental Wellbeing Blog Posts

This complicated ball of cells, electrical signals and chemicals is what makes you and me the people we are.  Mental health is no different to what some call our 'physical health'!  Our brain along with our DNA and the environment we are raised in has a profound affect on who we are and who we will become.  Read on to find out about this never ending journey of scientific discovery written in small bite sized articles.
